Strategic Plan 2016–2018

The Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE) is the peak national body representing state and territory computer education groups. Through these groups it represents some 7 000 schools, over 400 000 teachers and over 3 million students.

Our Vision

That ACCE is a strong, effective representative of state and territory  Computer Education Groups (CEGs), working closely with them to promote ongoing issues related to the use of Technology in the Curriculum and Australian Government support.

Our Mission

ACCE serves and supports its member associations by

  • being the leading national advocate of Technology in the Curriculum in Australia providing strong and effective representation to Government and other stakeholders

  • highlighting the contribution of Technology in the Curriculum to Australia through educational advancement and innovation

  • securing the appropriate level of Australian Government support for the use of Technology in the Curriculum

Strategic Priorities

Strategic Priority 1

Be an influential participant in the national education agenda

Key Strategies

  • Influence policy development and public understanding of Technology in the Curriculum by providing credible, well-researched and considered advice and advocacy

  • Influence the implementation of new Australian Government funding arrangements to ensure the interests of Technology in the Curriculum are protected and enhanced

  • Engage with the Australian Government as it examines options for refining funding and / Curriculum arrangements, including through effective participation in key reviews

  • Heighten awareness of Technology in the Curriculum to government and officials to influence policy outcomes.

  • Provide strong advocacy on Australian Government policy proposals

  • Participate in national curriculum development and support State and Territory implementation

  • Undertake or commission strategic research that supports Technology in the Curriculum

Strategic Priority 2: Build effective relationships with key stakeholders

Key Strategies

  • Work in consultation with CEGs to represent them and their members to strengthen national influence

  • Build and maintain positive and proactive relationships with Australian Government, Ministers, shadow Ministers and their staff, and key parliamentary committee members

  • Engage regularly with Australian Government departments and national agencies

  • Promote a positive and balanced coverage of technology in schools  by the media

  • Engage with other national organisations

  • Communicate ACCE policy positions widely

Strategic Priority 3: Promote sustainability for Technology in the Curriculum

Key Strategies

  • Ensure Technology in the Curriculum is prominently engaged throughout any funding review

  • Establish agreed Technology in the Curriculum positions

  • Prepare relevant and persuasive submissions and interventions on matters impacting on Technology in the Curriculum

  • Enhance public understanding of the contribution of Technology in the Curriculum

Strategic Priority 4: Engage in the National political process on behalf of the State and Territory Associations

  • Participate in national education policy debates

  • Seek bipartisan support for the sustainability of Technology in the Curriculum

  • Build and maintain positive pro-active relationships with politicians and political parties

  • Communicate the views of the sector to political opinion leaders

  • Respond to the education policies of political parties or other stakeholders

Strategic Priority 5: Follow good practice in governance and management

Key Strategies

  • Engage the CEGs in the development of ACCE policies

  • Create an efficient and productive working environment

  • Report and account for organisational outcomes in a formal and transparent framework

  • Embrace new technologies as a means to achieving organisational outcomes
