Biennial National Conference of the Australasian Association of Distance Education Schools (AADES)

ACCE today announced a partnership with the biennial National Conference of the Australasian Association of Distance Education Schools (AADES) to be held at the Wrest Point Conference Centre in Hobart on July 15 - 17, 2011. The ACCE Editorial Board is providing the refereeing service for papers and may publish selected papers in a future issue of Australian Educational Computing. In the off-year of the ACEC conference, this is a timely opportunity to present current research in the field as well as attand the conference.

The conference title is Crossing Borders, Shifting Boundaries: designing, delivering and leading effective elearning. The conference is aimed strongly at mainstream schools as well as distance settings. It will enable school leaders and teachers to develop their understanding of the ways thatelearning can enhance the educational experiences and outcomes of students in all educational settings including those making use of ICT in education. The conference will include a focus on ways that digital technologies can support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum as well as underpin flexible learning.

A number of highly respected international and national speakers, including the Executive Leadership Team of the Florida Virtual School, will deliver keynote addresses at the conference. Other confirmed presenters include Professor Teemu Leinonen from Finland, Professor Ross Gibson from the University of Sydney, Professor Stephen Crump from the University of Newcastle, Derek Wenmoth from Core Education in New Zealand and Dr Angela Thomas from the University of Tasmania. The three-day program will also feature presentations by researchers, teacher educators, teachers, students and industry specialists. The conference will include opportunities for delegates to participate in pre-conference institutes run by the Florida Virtual School and Professor Teemu Leinonen.
