Is Current Educational Research into the Use of ICT in the Classroom any use to Teachers and Policy Makers?
Recent criticism of educational research include - it lacks rigor, fails to produce cumulative findings, is theoretically incoherent, ideologically biased, irrelevant to schools, lacks the involvement of teachers and, is poorly communicated and expensive. Recent criticism research in ICTE in particular includes it lacks a theoretical perspective and a sense of history, it is focused on the enabling of technology at the expense of its impacts on human endeavour, and is methodologically problematic. These criticisms have led to a call, especially in America, for evidence based research built on randomized controlled trials to inform practice.
