Computing Studies: Free Professional Development

Macquarie University, in conjunction with the the Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre and Google is delighted to be offering a free two-day professional learning program for Computing Studies teachers.

The workshop will provide a range of exciting strategies and resources for computing courses that teachers can use directly in their classrooms to create inspiring computing experiences for their students.

A small number of travel grants are available for people interstate. Please contact macictsupport@det.nsw.edu.au if you are interested.

Participants will:

  • Experience a range of innovative strategies, project ideas and resources which bring the computing curriculum to life
  • Gain hands-on experience using Augmented Reality, 3D design and 3D printing in classroom projects
  • Understand the principles that underpin the effective teaching of computing, including developing exciting collaborative tasks, creative processes, deep learning and team building
  • Develop a collaborative community of practice so that teachers can share their ideas and support one another to improve their practice.

The sessions are being led by David Grover, who many of you know as an expert computing studies teacher, and they will be highly interactive and hands-on. The course has NSWIT accreditation.
