ICT in Action

Are you a preservice teacher or a teacher in their first five years of teaching? Or are you an international student studying education in Australia? Would you like to contribute your views to some Australian research listening to your views on teaching and learning with technologies? If so, this session is for you. Using the Zing system for facilitating group conversations, this session will be conducted as a focus group for the Australian national research project listening to students' voices about their views of learning with technologies.
Learn about using 3dsmax to design and create 3D models which can be animated, explored, used for physics experiments and simulations. Participants will also learn about getting their final results exported to a variety of formats for practical use.
Australian school students participated in national benchmark testing administered by agencies of the federal government in May 2008. This workshop provides a hands-on experience of the online equivalent. The site is purpose built using existing and new content and a user friendly interface. The workshop will be conducted in a computer laboratory with access to the internet. No special software is needed apart from a current browser. In Australia a number of teachers have undertaken training and moved to implement Quest Atlantis (http://www.questatlantis.org) into the curriculum planning in their schools. This panel session offers an insight into the value of Quest Atlantis, a 3D multi-user virtual world developed by the Learning Sciences team at Indiana University, as implemented in a number of Australian schools. The panel members in this session are drawn from teachers in public and private, primary and secondary schools across four states of Australia.
